Description "You need to break an egg in order to make an omellete." - someone

Angel's Egg is haunting. Not only because of the great music and terrifying yet beautiful visuals, but mainly because of the lack of... everything. There is little to no dialogue, extremely slow-paced story progression, we don't even know character's names. It's so unusual to come across a story that doesn't really offer anything particularly entertaining to the viewer. There isn't any physical-laws-breaking action, exaggerated drama or comedy, but I was surprisingly okay with that. It made me think - maybe stories like that aren't actually meant to be entertaining. After all, the little girl and the mysterious stranger (wait, aren't they both strangers?) have been wandering this dark empty world abandoned by God for a quite long time, so it's only natural for them to loose touch with their personalities and emotions. Angel's Egg portrays nothing but plain reality at the expense of not being the great funny amusing anime we are normally used to watch. I was atleast expecting them to reveal a bit of their personal backstory, but they remained silent. As if they are so perfectly familiar with their surroundings - or they don't remember the world being different - that there is no need for additional conversation, at the expense of leaving the viewer confused. Barely anything
is explained. Angel's Egg doesn't really care about the viewer, it feels like the movie created itself and it exists on it's own. We are just (un)lucky to be here and experience this abstract madness as well.

The little girl wanders the post apocalyptic world and scavenges for food. She carries an egg that she protects and treasures very much. She imagines that the something (an angel?) is sleeping and dreaming about the world and the girl can't wait for the day it'll hatch and she will show him everything... Without any evidence it will even hatch. This could presumably represent blind faith. She then will meet a mysterious stranger and she keeps asking him who is he, until he one day ask her who is she. We say that faith is a path we take to find answers to universe, life and death, but in reality it's a path we take to find ourselves.
That is my personal interpretation.

And the little girl's scream was the most horrifying thing I've ever heard.
