Love this tutorial. You make it seem so simple! ( I know from experience, its not lol) I would love to see how you set up your lighting. Also, did you have to ask for the syringes behind the counter? I dont want to seem like a crackhead when I walk in there.

hi! sorry for taking so long
i use natural light from my bedroom window and yes, i have to ask for them, but don't worry if they give you a funny look just tell the truth. they won't second guess that i think.

GAH. I wish I could have seen this before I did my macro for my photography class. OTL Beautiful, though, I must say. If we ever do a freelance assignment, I will HAVE to try this technique out! Oh, and because I am way too young to get my hands on a syringe, do you have any knowledge as to how else you could make the droplet without using one?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

razrroth In reply to Shaman-Pixels [2011-11-23 05:39:24 +0000 UTC]

You could try one of those super tiny coffee straws that you find in gas stations...? I don't really know about this stuff, but that was the first thing that came to mind for me. You could also try simply using a small paintbrush, but it's less likely to create the 'balled-up' effect, and be more ovally.

Shaman-Pixels In reply to razrroth [2011-11-23 05:50:20 +0000 UTC]

That might work. :3 I shall have to get a hand on one of those coffee straws the next time I go to a Jacks. They have about a million of them; they'd live if I stole one. xD

I have no paintbrushes, unfortunately, so I shall have to put my hope into the coffee straw. Thanks for the suggestion! <3
