That was all it took. For one person, just a single one to say against all his destructive thoughts. He could be brave. He knew it, but yet he so often denied it. Was it so much easier to blame the fear and guilt that he could never afford to call himself brave?

Watching her comb away his hair, he felt naked at first. But as his eyes met those of the reflection, listening to her soft humming as dilligent hands braided the leaves into his hair... he felt at ease.

"Thank you."

"What for?"

"For making me brave enough to admit to myself that... I am brave."

Part two of the previous post, a few years later, meeting the lovely halfling Alusys. He finally starts seeing himself differently.
