High above the trees there´s the dragon.
My newest digital piece offers new colors, new dimensions and finally some slight 3D effect! While I worked on the blue-green and red complementary contrast, I also focused on details on the trees and dragon. Enjoy!

I will definitely keep in mind what you told me about anatomy, I´ll work on that. What parts of the body don´t look "right" for you? I´d like to know on what thing to focus
I also work on anatomy of cats at the moment, like here ~Bluestar
I know it´s a comic style, but also there, anatomy is important. you need to know it to exaggerate the body parts you´d like to, like in this case the neck. The neck is shorter in reality but I like long necks so I changed the anatomy a little.
In this piece, I worked hard on color and background, but I´ll put my focus on the dragon again like I did before

Yeah, anatomy in comic style is really important! All artists who work in cartoon style i know are really good in traditional anatomy too.
I think you should try draw animals and creatures black and white using just lighting. Like, you have gray background and you start draw with big brush main shapes and lightings, without any sketch. That helps to understand how body looks in 3D and how to show it on drawing.At least, thats how I learned anatomy, just doing shapes and don't think about details :3 that what you did on turtle sketch btw, you used lines to show shape, not.. " lineart " huh * lol hard to explain *

I totally understand what you mean with lines, not lineart. Really. I know exactly. I didnt outline the turtle but tried to get the shadows with the lines.

Auch dieses Bild gefällt mir sehr gut. Nun ja, die Originalität des Bildes ist jetzt nur 4 Sterne wert, da man die Art dieses Motieves schon sehr oft gesehen hat. Trotzdem ist es ein einwandfreies und tolles Bild. Die Größe des Drachens muss entweder immens sein, oder er befindet sich nahe der Baumgrenze, wo die Bäume nicht mehr viel größer als Sträucher sind. Zur Technik: Das ist ja ein Digitales Werk, wobei es wirkt, als sei es eine mega gute Zeichnung. Also da muss ich dir echt Respekt zollen. Das Bild könnre ich mir ohne Probleme auf mehreren Quadratmetern Fläche an einer Wand vorstellen!

Ich stimme dem ganzen zum Teil zu, wobei ich mich (und bitte nicht falsch verstehen, nur eine logische Denkweise) frage, weshalb das Bild so riesig geworden ist, wenn man bei der nahen Ansicht direkt die Striche sehen kann^^ Ich hätte da dann noch mehr Details dazu gepinselt, bzw weiter ausgearbeitet, denn Potential hat es wirklich, finde ich etwas schade^^
Ansonsten stimme ich aber der Kritik zu; ich sehe es genauso (=

Wow! This is positively amazing!
-I love how the colours are not painful to look at and that they look great together.
-I appreciate the use of size comparison by having the mountains in the background and the birds flying around the dragon.
-The forest nicely melds into the bases of the mountains.
-The posing of the dragon is great, but I think that there needs to be a little bit more definition on the wing bones -- the "fingers" of the wings -- because without them the dragon can't fly.
-The dragon is not overly covered by horns, crests, et cetera making the dragon itself more pleasing to look at and look less crowded.
-I think that the dragon should have a bit more expression on it's face just to better emphasize what it is feeling (right now I see that it is in awe at the birds, but he/she also looks a little sad; maybe that's what you were intending, I don't know.).
Overall, well done!

Ich suche nach einem geeigneten Drachen für das Cover meines Romans Dreizehn Drachen, und hätte gerne diesen hier dafür. Nur den Drachen auf dem Sockel, ohne den Hintergrund. Lässt sich da was machen? Ich finde hier leider nichts zum Nachrichten direkt schreiben und bin neu hier.

Hallo.
Theoretisch ist das möglich, doch da du dann mit meinem Bild als Cover Geld verdienst, möchte ich natürlich etwas dafür haben. Auf deviantART gibt es beispielsweise die "Währung" Points, die ich nehmen würde. Weißt du bereits etwas darüber?
Es kann auch sein, dass ich trotzdem noch einen Rückzieher mache, da ich erst noch über dein Angebot nachdenken müsste.
PS ich finde dein jetziges Cover schon echt gut

Ja, natürlich würde man da noch verhandeln. Ich muss nur leider selbst einen Rückzieher machen ... Der Drache sieht echt super aus, ich bekomme ihn aber nicht so ins Bild eingefügt, dass es "natürlich" wirkt. Ich suche einen rot-schwarzen Drachen, der aussieht, als würde er bedrohlich auf die beiden zulaufen, und meine Stammzeichnerin (von ihr sind Bilder im Buch) hat derzeit eine Blockade (sonst hätte ich das komplette Cover von ihr bekommen).
Aber danke, dass du theoretisch dabei wärst.

Wow, das ist echt klasse. Der Drache selbst ist wirklich wunderbar geworden und auch das Verblassen der Umgebung im Hintergrund. Die Bäume hätten allerdings tatsächlich etwas kleiner werden können, je weiter nach oben es geht
