Ren for some backstory reasons does not like to be looked at or focused on, and tends to stay fairly layered up at most times as a subconscious defense mechanism. The only reason that wasn’t the case one time in-game was when he felt like he needed to chaperone some drunk party members chilling out at some natural hot springs. If anyone had been sober enough to notice (plus one of them is blind), they might’ve noticed the scars on his face are not the only ones he has. When his brother and he were still living under their house’s rule in the Underdark, Ren would typically assume the corporal punishment whenever his little brother got into trouble, and was generally the House Ithir whipping post.
