Sade was born shortly after one of the major droughts in the Pridelands. Most of the Pride's cubs had died in the famine, and the birth of Hawla's twins was celebrated by the entire Pride.

She was patient and sweet even as a cub, always looking out for others. These traits proved to make an excellent hunter and Hunt leader, a position given to her once Queen Adeola died. Early in her life, she was paired with the slightly younger Princess Uru, in hopes of curbing the princess' spirit. It worked, but as the grew older their hunting team turned into romance. Certainly Sade wanted cubs, but she loved Uru more than she cared for cubs.

Unfortunatly for the blooming romance, Uru was betrothed to a distant cousin, Ahadi, in hopes of healing a generations-old animosity between the prides. Sade was wise, though, and she encouraged Uru's relationship with the newcomers. Eventually, her planning worked out, and both she and Uru bore Ahadi's cubs.

Sade knew that cubs had never been Uru's forte, and so she took over parenting. While Uru's milk soon dried up and she resumed her royal duties, Sade spent many years caring for their cubs. Once they were older, it allowed her to return permanently to her position as leader of the Hunt, and the cubs began to spend more time with Uru.

It was Sade who brought the lack of suitable mates for their cubs to Uru's attention and Sade who encouraged Taka to take interest in his betrothed. Eventually, Sade retired from her position in the Hunt, relinquishing the title to Sarabi, the new queen.

After they buried Uru, Sade and Ahadi became close. They served as advisors to Mufasa for several years, before he found them sleeping together one morning, on the nook that would become Scar's.
