Description Im planning on drawing a small comic of a blacksmith who works with fire pokemon. While Im not promising anything, here is an illustration of what his home might look like.
Its fun to draw buildings, since you get so inspired when it starts forming and you figure out where things go.

Hm, I think I started by doodling a very basic house. You can see the perspective lines here and there. Then I put in basic tones and drew the surface textures like tilework and wood, and shading it further.
Now that I look at it, I would probably not make it so dark + would lean less on the lineart for the finished product..!
However, if you are scared or don't know where to start, leaning on your lineart helps a lot. You don't need to worry about drawing perspective lines if there isn't a lot of very obvious perspective (like a corridor), or if the houses are a bit wonky anyway. Take for example a medieval village: They aren't going to have many houses in parallel, so you can get away with just a horizon/eye level and a couple receding lines for the most prominent buildings. Also working from large areas to smaller ones makes the process more controllable and more... processlike. Studying the workflows of other artists can give you a leg to stand on when you are having trouble figuring where to start. <: D

I said this before to someone, but edges are the most important when you are painting. If your edges are all mushy, the picture looks blurry and unfinished. So try to use hard edges. Though of course that advice comes with a hefty helping of salt - if you have some areas blurry and some areas sharp, it'll have a more natural effect on how the whole image is focused. Just make sure the soft and hard edges are where you planned for them to be. c:

This looks very very cool. Good job, I love how it looks like it's colored with charcoal

Also, I plugged your dA page for my Starbound video (that's uploading right now)
