After the LMS/NWR agreement closed down the ferry sailings, Sir Topham Hatt would continue services to Kirk Ronan and eventually buy several railcars to service the line. They would perform well but often argue with the other engines, especially when said engines had to collect goods. Soon after BR arose though, the NWR would get a special meeting that would change Kirk Ronan for the better.
