Description Ruby - Corn snake
Pantherophis guttatus guttatus

Ruby is my youngest snake. She's slender and is often very squirmy. Taking photos the other night was no exception.

Did you get that amazing effect by putting her on a white table or something? It's a really, really cool perspective!

Thanks for your kind words! It's on a vinyl back-drop that I use for hi-key set ups.

It's awesome. And she's a very, very beautiful corn.

She has stunning colors! Her name is perfect for her. She's a strawberry corn right?

I don't think so, but I'm not sure. I assumed she was a classic corn. Honestly, I'm not really as knowledgeable about corn snake morphs as I am about ball python morphs (which is only slightly more in-depth!)

Thanks, though! She is such a pretty little addition to my collection! She's still quite small and love having her twine around my fingers!

A strawberry corn snake is basically a classic corn but with a gene that deepens the red color of the saddles. From how red Ruby looks I'd say she has the strawberry gene no doubt. A classic corn's saddles would be very orange to a copper.

Corns are my favorite snakes but for the designer morph I favor I'll be saving up for at least a year to buy from a breeder with clean colored animals. Being that I want one of the most expensive corn snake morphs, I'd likely eventually breed it for my own pleasure of seeing what colored babies come out. I was thinking either a strawberry corn as a mate (the morph I want has a strawberry corn parent and caries the gene so breeding it to a strawberry corn should add more of a red tint to the color) or using a Salmon corn snake as a mate which is popular for the morph I want and can create a morph called Pink Champagne if both parents are recessive for patternless.

Very cool! Thanks for the info. I wish you the best of luck and would love to see a pic of one if you're successful!

It'll be awhile til I can get my first snake, but they will definitely be tons of photos put on DA once I do. The Strawberry Anery/Coral Ghost morph I want will be called Muse despite it's sex though I'd prefer a male for my 1st snake so I don't have to worry about egg binding. Since the snake will be a center of a good chunk of my photography as well as inspire other work, I thought the name would be appropriate.

Does Strawberry also removes the belly pattern? She looks "Diffused" as well...

I'm not sure if the strawberry corns usually have the checkered belly or not. But if she looks diffused she may have the diffused gene too.
