Description My most beautiful piece of work if my opinion counts. I made it last year and i thought i should add it to my gallery. Blade and handguard have some hacks from tournaments and training. Its designed to be replica of longswords used in scandinavian region at Viking Age with small difference - the blade edge is 2mm wide so that it could be used for reenactment purposes. Silver inlay on handguard and pommel took for ages... and my fingers probably hate me lots of hammer and chisel work. On the blade are two poems from Elder Edda whith i think suitable for a tool of destruction. Scabbard is made from veg tanned leather and fittings are from bronze - also lots of chiselwork. Im not very happy with the picture and composition but i hope i can use professional photographer one day .

it is simply beautiful. i would personally have a more pointed tip, but it is still very amazing without it. You are truly an artisan in your work. If you were to sell it, i would be the first to buy it i'm sure. the way you crafted the blade added such a beautiful shape and edge. The the design on the hilt and pummel only add to the beauty of the overall design. The first thing that caught my eye was how the design across the blade fell perfectly into place making it just simply amazing in all ways, well done.

What Marvel character uses a viking sword? Also, why would some random guy with 69 in his name be working for the Disney props department? And if you do represent Disney, why don't you use proper grammar?

This is incredible. I prefer to use longer hilts personally, although the majority of my blades happen to be short hilt, they were earlier purchases, and normally I've managed to steer clear of any more
one-handed blades, but I am positively salivating at the idea of owning a sword like this and the beauty of this blade has got the idea stuck in my head now...
The Valknut on the pommel looks amazing and the runes running down the fuller just about sold me.Β
The scabbard I think is a little ornate for my tastes, but I love the dull dark grey of the blade, not sure if that's photographic tweaking or the actual colour, but either way please post more photos of this viking masterpiece!

Ugrik In reply to Drah-Kor [2015-01-01 13:01:20 +0000 UTC]

Thanx! Dark gray of the blade was achieved with "gun-blue" so its relatively accurate representation of the colour.Β

Most of my skills i have learned from my father, who rests in valhalla. Internet is also wonderful source of information where is lot to learn if you separate useful things from the rest.

I'm glad people still have skill in this field. I do think it is a great piece, but is it historically accurate? Is it made of the right kind of steel, does it comply to the materials available to the average smith at the time? I don't think it LOOKS historically accurate. Still a nice piece though.

This is absolutely beautiful! I love the runes on the fuller and crossguard, but my favorite is the ValknΓΌt triangle knot on the pommel. Excellent work! I think the small nicks in the blade make it look battle-worn. 10/10!!!

Hehe - it is quite battleworn. I have won two tournaments with it so the nicks are all for real. Bloody latvian knights blocking blows with their blades

Hey!

I've been in love with your sword for a few months, and I'm thinking about making a tattoo of it. I would like to ask your permission and, if you agree, a few more pictures of the blade and the runes in details and the name in english of the poems. I would be really really happy if you agree with that, and I would send you a picture of the work done, if you want.

Looking forward to your answer,
Camila.

Well - since making a good sword is very timeconsuming process i dont see much point taking the extra step and doing it as awesome as i can.
If you cant really afford handmade swords i can suggest trying some companies such Hanwei that makes good and affordable sword replicas - splended for training or slashing things if you prefer to buy sharp one.
