Description
A stroke of good fortune caught us blasting up the road to Mount St. Helens in Washington State as the sun was setting and the moon was rising. The patchy mosaic of snow and rock were virtually indistinguishable in the orange sunlight.

I believe this view of what remains of the volcano cone - the south rim - with the moon suspended above it is seen only very occasionally.

This followed a month long crossing of fingers after our first visit to the mountain, when it was totally shrouded in cloud to the point where we couldn't see it even when we were practically in the crater.
