The famous carpe diem concept Many philosophers have proposed such a way of life, as well as many religions for that matter. The one you chose to represent this concept is quite adequate and appealing. Good job.
As for the idea, I'm not a big fan of such a way of life. Living the moment regardless of past or future is practically ignorance, and the hight of such an ideal is complete ignorance to the point you are no longer aware you exist and therefor are no longer affected by death or suffering, a return to before creation (i think it's called increation or something).
But it's a passive way of dealing with human condition. I prefer a more active one, oriented towards discovery. With knowledge comes power, so total and complete knowledge (or awareness) is the equivalent of complete and total power. It's of course a hypothetical thing, as being all-knowing is regarded as impossible due to our human limitations, but we can evolve ourselves, both physically and mentally to the extent that we no longer have such limitations.
But if we become all-powerful and self-sufficient, then we no longer have a purpose in life, and our attempt becomes futile. That is why I believe in a balanced way of life, combining both ideals, bettering ourselves towards perfection as well as enjoying life and it's simple wonders.
If the post wasn't too long (hopefully neither boring) and if you agree with this idea, then maybe you'd like to represent the equivalent of the "active" approach to life or maybe realize one that could represent both ways of living fused together (maybe a cyborg Budda )
Keep up the good work and good luck with your studies.

Yeah... there really isn't much more to say. As far as I can tell, this piece perfectly conveys the feeling you were trying to illustrate.

That's cool! That is one of my beliefs that one should not mind the past or future even while the world speeds onward. Here I should mention that I am Wican, but I also share some of the beliefs that a few other religions have, such as a small portion of Christianity, Buddhism, and Shamanism. But I am not an extreme Wican to the point that I would believe that I could fly around the world on a broomstick and make potions, such as this one mother believed on a Reality Televison show that I saw while I was flipping through different cable channels on my TV, and I think it is/was called "Wife Swap" or something similar. I don't remember the name of that show, but I found it rather crazy.
