Overview;
With a past of trials and tribulations Ra is a gentled soul; a friend to those in need, and a guiding force in the lives of many. Despite appearances his shoulder has seen the tears of many through the years, often having a dual purpose as a pillow. He has a level of empathy that's unmatched, and wisdom seemingly beyond his years. Though kind, he tends to be quite stern. His opinions are solid, and won't change over a pity party. Some advice he gives can seem harsh and cold, but he's aware that tough love is often needed. Much of his time is spent alone these days, as he is new to Vimbue and unfamiliar with all amongst it's numbers. For the time being he has hidden away back into his shell, often found lazing in the shade or studying the religions and customs of other tribes. Despite his shy nature, if one were to pick and pry enough, they'd find a soft spoken, charming lion. He enjoys sharing stories, and getting the newest bits of drama from around the tribe. Behind closed doors Ra could be seen as a bit of a mess. He's insecure about himself. What if his advice was wrong? What of his future? Lots of questions run through his head in private, and he hides his own struggles behind a cool, calm expression. He's sensitive to his own problems and the words of others against him. He strives for excellence, and isn't fond of being kicked down the ladder. He copes with his mixed feelings by collecting shiny trinkets, strings, teeth, and horns. He isn't sure why it helps, but a new shiny tends to put him at ease for a short time. He isn't one to share his emotions, rather bottling them until he explodes into a fit of anger or sadness. Perhaps someday he'll learn how to handle them, but for now he's a ticking time bomb.
History
Cubhood: Life was simpler back then albeit harsher. Born in a pinpoint of an oasis, Ra was the only cub of his young mother Ashanti. An escapee of a vicious, cult like tribe outside of Wethu, the lioness was desperate to find a pleasant place to birth her child. An accident and bastard to the tribe and his father Kato, but a wonder to his mother. A cub of common blood and a coat of gold much like Ashanti. Unfortunately she wouldn't be around long enough to see his growth. She was weak from her escape, having ran miles throughout the dunes of the desert. Her body was skin and bones, her lungs sickly and wheezing from sand inhalation. Birth had taken the last out of her, and she was dying. As she faded she nudged her treasure to her belly, softly licking his head, softer and softer until she went limp. Flies buzzed overhead, locusts screeching in the bushes nearby. Dusk eventually came, and the young cub lay nestled against his mother, unaware of what had happened. It didn't take long before his stomach started growling, and soon after the tiny creature began mewling, unable to do anything else. He'd cried himself hoarse before help finally arrived, a spotted coat in the darkness. Another new mother. A leopardess with pity in her heart.
Adolescence: Being raised with leopards was what Ra knew, at this point he had never seen another lion, but knew he was different. His spotted siblings, Rufaro and Shani made sure of that, often picking on him for not having spots, or being a bit clumsier than they were. The teasing only got worse when tufts of his mane started coming in, very unevenly. Despite their jests the three got along well, their mother teaching them all equally. Ra took more time as he wasn't built as they were, but he eventually managed. This part of his life was uneventful, only learning how to survive as the leopards did. He knew Zawadi as his mother, but a day finally came where she told him where he'd come from, what she knew anyway. It wasn't a shock to the young lion, but he couldn't help but feel odd after that. He didn't belong with the leopards, and knew he needed to leave. Not then, but soon.
Adulthood: For years the four had stayed in the same territory, though the siblings each strayed far for days at a time, seeking to build their own futures. More and more Ra wanted to reach out and find his own kind, to learn how a lion was supposed to act. He assumed not much different from their smaller, spotted cousins, but he didn't have anything to compare them to. At four he was beyond ready to find himself, to join his kind. Time for freedom. Approaching Zawadi he asked about his kind, asking what she knew, where he could find them. There was a certain sadness in her green eyes, but she understood. Hours of questions, and days of planning later, Ra said his goodbyes. Would he see them again? He wasn't sure, but he made their final moments together wonderful.
Present: For two years Ra hunted for the lands of Wethu, stumbling across many nomadic tribes on his journeys. The search was painstaking, but then the day finally came. Exhausted from a long day of walking the male crested a ridge, and what lay before him was beautiful. It took many days for Ra to find the Vimbue Tribe, but he immediately knew he was where he supposed to be. A new beginning, a true beginning, for a lion without purpose.
In-Group History: Currently awaits Khweta Ceremony
Other: Because Ra was raised with leopards he acts like one. He can often be found lazing about in trees, and mimics their vocalizations.
The cream bordering Ra's face is meant to resemble the masks of our Pharaohs.
Only his beeper is mottled, the rest of his skin is dark.
