This year's gift to . Mario and old school cartoons... it's as simple as that.Recently I've developed a style of drawing the Mario characters in a manner inspired by the DiC cartoons and Hotel Mario. It basically takes the look of those cartoons and makes them even more '40s style.
So here I pretend that Nintendo was an animation studio from the 1940s.
It was interesting adapting Wario and Waluigi to the style (my first attempt here), and I referred to the "Obey Wario" commercial and the webcomic "Brawl in the Family" to help. For one thing, they've never had irises before, so I had to pick their color.

Very cool. One thing though, you got Waluigi's symbol wrong though - it's an "Γ".

It's kind of an exaggeration of the DiC style, really. I add my own little touches to make it even more retro- the pants are made to look like Popeye pants, their shoes have holes in them, and I basically cast Waluigi as a Dastardly Whiplash.
One thing I've started doing recently is using Luigi's striped socks from the Mario & Luigi artwork. Did you notice?
