Description Created with Apophysis 2.05 Z+C++.

I went back to the Stained Glass style for some inspiration and experimenting last night, which turned out great. It's a very versatile style, for sure. The grain in between the divider lines (which is caused by Rays) is an unfortunate side effect, though. Tell me what you think!

Comments and critiquing greatly appreciated.

First off, it definitely feels like a particularly cold and gorgeous night in the North Pole. The color choice is appropriate; though lacking in variety, that tends to be the case with that much ice. I especially like the top portion with the lights because the contrast and texture works particularly well there, where the bottom portion is slightly lacking in both.

The technique is nostalgic, makes me want to draw out some old parameter sets and give them a nice tweaking with the new plugins and features of the new Apophysis. However, I think the trademark black lines of the stained glass are a bit too bold for the particular theme here. I think narrow and more intricate lines would work better to convey the icy atmosphere better.

Overall, I don't think this fractal is particularly unique in appereance and technique, but it does convey what its name promises the viewer and is thus quite effective. Also, I think it carries your trademark with the ability to manage hot spots particularly well. e.deviantart.com/emoticons/s/sā€¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" />

That fractal instantly pulled my attention
I especially like the choose of colors and feel the urgent need to use it as wallpaper

Oh, this definitely has to be fullviewed to fully appreciate the details. I don't think the grain detracts from the piece at all- if anything it adds to the overall shattered/icy feel. Gorgeous.

I thought people fullviewed naturally.

Thanks for the comment.

Did you use per chance the Windows Script or a plugin to make this one?

I did it from scratch. I've only used a script maybe once or twice.

Great stained glass fractal, I love the way you made yet another different type of design within this style -- something hard to do when everyone's tried their hand at it. Strangely enough, I don't think the grain is a bad thing, I like how it appears as stars beyond this window or piece of ice.

Thanks a lot, Matt! Your thoughts about the grain are intriguing. I have never seen it as a sort of background.

I thought it was just part of the whole "polar nights" idea going on.

No, but the way you put it is very interesting. It gives me some ideas. Thanks!

Absolutely one of the most breathtaking fractals I have seen in a long time!! Perfect gradient...and I love the fractal reflection in the glass panes. You have utilized the space well, and the overall composition is pleasing to the eye. Fantastic job my dear!!!

What script?

You know, I use scripts occasionally....not as often as people think I do. It is similar to the Windows script by cabintom and the RainbowsBachanale by Platinus. Since you didn't use a script I would love to see a tutorial on the technique you used to make this one!!! Just beautiful!! Now I am REALLY impressed by this Awesome fractal!
