Description

Drew my babbies after work last night. Different outfits just for fun. As much as I love doing clothing patterns I purposefully cut back on them in their regular outfits since I would probably die if I had to draw this much patterning every time they were in frame.
Fun Fact: Instruments are one of the only things in Sky Herder that are made with wood. Also, Nezah can’t play for crap. Neither can Mier, but he’s a good singer. Don’t ask what he’s singing though. Really did not help that I was listening to the song Acapella while drawing him. Did not help at all.
Sass level perpetually rising.  Honey take the cash.

That clothes pattern. Man.

I like this group picture and the expressions of your two characters. I sure like the way you colour.

I really wish there was a large production team to work on Sky Herder QuQ  but at the same time I doubt anyone could mimic the feel of your amazing style xD.

Lol, sometimes it would be nice to have help. It's a slow process with just me. XD But then at the same time, I'd have a hard time letting other people do some of the stuff because I get really controlling and finnicky about my projects. XD

Turtle-Arts In reply to Kuzumm [2014-09-26 00:14:22 +0000 UTC]

lol, it's true. Especially because I have a really tight vision of how I want Sky Herder to go, and I'm a bit worried that most people/companies would... eh, "soften it" too much. Like they might try to change things to me more "child friendly" and that sort of goes against my whole point. >_<

Golly, that's a lot of detail! But it adds such character and depth...well worth the effort! Really love the posing on Toch. Lots of expression in the shoulders. Love it! XD

Thank you! ^^ And yeah, I love the patterns too, but it's just a pain to have to do all the time. XD Toch's normal outfit has the most patterning on it out of the three and even that's a little annoying sometimes, so yeah there's no way I'm doing this much for a big massive comic. lol!

Imma do it acapella -- **YEAAAAH**

Love this, it's like a Sky Herder concept art party. If you happen to have an art book for the comic series, I might just buy it. cx I love seeing your characters just doing random stuff together.

Turtle-Arts In reply to TheMeekWarrior [2014-09-21 22:10:20 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, you know where it's at. XD

And thank you! ^^ I'd love to do an art book eventually. I had one for my senior show that I was considering selling, but  decided against it when I made the decision to do a comic, since that art book has a ton of spoilers in it and I don't want everyone knowing the story before hand. Everyone who was in the bachelor's class with me already knows because we had to work on our stories together, and I hate that that many people already know what happens. >_<

Alberthein1 [2014-09-21 20:47:35 +0000 UTC]

The sass is even further increased by the instrument having that sassy face with dem fat eyebrows.
He's diggin' it.
oooooohyeaaaahh...

Turtle-Arts In reply to Alberthein1 [2014-09-21 22:04:51 +0000 UTC]

Oh you noticed! Yes, the stringed instruments usually have faces on them. I did a lot of instrument prop design a while back for this project to help my friend who was doing the music for my senior show and that was something I had fun putting in. They usually either have a face or they're shaped like a different animal. :>

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Alberthein1 In reply to Turtle-Arts [2014-09-22 08:53:38 +0000 UTC]

ooh, I like that a lot. It's probably going to be pretty humerous in some situations but overall they give off a lively culture.
Will the instruments also be made my the ones playing the instrument, and so befit their own character as an extention of themselves?
I know some guilds in the past did something like that, which was the last test to really see how well someone understood the practice..
although that was a hunting guild, and they had to craft their own guns, BUT SAME DIFFERENCE.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Turtle-Arts In reply to Alberthein1 [2014-09-22 17:29:18 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. :> And no, the instruments aren't usually made by the one playing them. Not a whole lot of people are skilled at woodwork in their culture, so instrument making is kind of a particular profession. If only the people that made the instruments played them, then hardly anyone would know how to play any music. XD  But yeah that guild rule would apply to anyone apprenticed to a luthier, but none of these characters are pursuing that profession, so they just have them... borrowed from Toch's  parents actually. I doubt they could afford to buy them on their own as wood crafts are very pricey.

Patterns are definitely fun, but yes very time consuming. Kaoru Mori drives me up a wall everytime I see Bride Story
