Sweet ... "Oh my, you look lovely today mother!"
Mantispaw is a little ball of fluffy love. She's always throwing around compliments like crazy, and she means every single one of them. She enjoys comforting others. She's also a wonderful kit sitter because of how kind she is. She likes to spend most her time with the elders and queens of the clans, listening to their stories, and helping them out.

Easygoing ... "Oh, don't worry about it."
Mantispaw is extremely easygoing. She'll most likely let anything slide, as long as it's not some rude comment towards someone else. She doesn't care about words said about her or her appearance. She'll just ignore mean comments, and pass them off as nothing. Because she's already bested her father, no one could say worse than terrible things he'd said. She's never offended by any comments, though she does take a disliking to cats who insult her and don't apologize.

Confident ... "I know I can do this!"
Mantispaw is extremely sure of herself. She believe, with strive and hard work, that she can do anything. Whenever some cat puts her down, she just shakes her head, and proves them wrong. (If she can!)

Clumsy ... "Uhh...woops? Ehehe..."
Because of her missing a leg, Mantispaw is incredibly clumsy. She'll trip a lot. Which turns into making her embarrassed. And with that, she begins to stutter. She just really becomes a huge mess whenever her legs trip her up.

Awkward ... "So uhm...yeeep..."
Mantispaw isn't too good with strangers, and usually the conversation will come to awkward silence if the topic is left up to her. Sometimes, because of her sweet trait, she'll say something that could sound bad to others, like calling them cute, and again, it gets awkward. Mantispaw is a terrible conversationalist half the time.

Nervous ... "U-uhm...I dunno."
This trait was scarred into her after her father's abuse. Mantispaw is sometimes scared and nervous around tom cats. Unless they can show her she can trust them, she'll sometimes cringe away, and fear them. She'd never flee a fight, but she does become scared easily by tom cats. Especially older ones.

[ BEFORE BIRTH ]

Owlsong and Cricketthroat seemed like any middle aged couple. They went on walks, and talked, but they weren't all over eachother like the young couples, and they definitely didn't hate eachother or bicker, like half the elder ones. They were just assumed to be...average. But Cricketthroat harvested secrets from his mate. Unknown to her, Cricketthroat had been cheating on her. Cheating with she-cats, much to young for a cat his age.

It was a moon after Owlsong had found she was finally expecting her first litter that she discovered Cricketthroat's fiendish habits. The heavily pregnant she-cat forced him to stop, at least until the kits were born and old enough to live without their parents. Cricketthroat reluctantly obliged, but started to become violent, his urges not being met. He could never lay a claw on his mate, for he still loved her, but he would lash out at others.

[ KITHOOD ]

Owlsong gave birth to a litter of 4 kittens. 2 toms, and 2 she-cats. 1 She-cat, though, was different from the others. Though her pelt had the most beautiful colors of all her siblings, and her eyes had the brightest shine, she lacked a 4th leg. Her parents immediately assumed her too weak, and set her away, claiming she'd die any minute. They didn't need to waste milk on an already dead kit!

Her parents were wrong, though. A missing leg didn't throw death upon the newborn, she wasn't weak. When Owlsong awoke the next morning, it was to the hungry mewl of a kit. It wasn't one of the three at her belly, though, it was her fourth, the 3-legged she-kit. The kit had survived her first night without food. She was a fighter, that was for sure. Believing she'd made a terrible mistake as a mother, Owlsong quickly brought the hungry kit to her belly, where it fed, and fell asleep.

Cricketthroat had put aside his violent nature after the kits were born, focused on helping them grow. He was particularly interested in Mantiskit. Too interested.

During Mantiskit's 5th moon, her father decided to take the kit out on a walk. Mantiskit stumbled clumsily after her father, still not used to balancing yet. The kit had easily grown to apprentice size, though she was still slightly small, and skinnier than most Riverclanners so that she could walk with ease. It was then, in the middle of the forest, that Cricketthroat pinned his daughter to the forest floor. A hungry look shone in his eyes, a look that had been there every time he observed his daughter.
The same look he got when he had cheated on his mate so many moons ago.

Mantiskit's father started yowling insults at his daughter. He told her she would never be a warrior. She would always be to weak to defend herself with only 3 legs. That all she would ever be was a tom's plaything, his plaything. The tom raised a paw, and lashed out at her face, leaving 2 scars below her eye, and a niche in her ear. Then, he started preparing to do something no cat should do to their child, even worse than leaving scars on their faces.

It was then, as if by Starclan's will, that the bushes wriggled, and a patrol stepped through the bushes. Owlsong, accompanied by the leader at the time, Duststar, and several other warriors. It seemed to be a search party. Expressions turned from surprise to horror, and within seconds, Cricketthroat was pinned underneath Duststar and Owlsong.

Cricketthroat was banished from Riverclan, and most cats assumed the old tom dead.

[ APPRENTICESHIP ]

Only a pawfull mornings had passed since Cricketthroat's banishment. The family of 5 were definitely not as excited as they normally would be for such a ceremony. But one held a determination the others did not. Mantiskit had vowed she would make her father eat his words. She wasn't useless, she wasn't some plaything. She was stong, and she'd shown that even in the first night of her kithood.

Mantiskit was named Mantispaw, under a warrior named ____, and eagerly began her training. Though she was always easygoing and polite, she worked hard with her mentor. In the moons that have passed, 4, Mantispaw has become much stronger, though she's not as strong as she'd like to be. It's hard when you're clumsy!

Mushroom let out a sigh as the she-cat moved. "Thank you. It's not that you weigh a lot, m'lady, I just don't have any meat on my bones to protect my ribs." He mewed, his voice filled with slight humor. He still felt uncomfortable with a strange cat simply resting on top of him, but he liked her soft touch. It wasn't bad, as far as he knew.
At the she-cat's name, his ears perked up. "I thought I was the only cat without a clan name!" He purred, dark eyes gleaming. That quickly disappeared as his across-the-border motives were questioned, and an embarrassed blush turned his muzzle even more red under his pelt. "Well, err, you see..." He stumbled, searching for a good explanation, but came up with nothing. "Alright, okay. I was curious about all the fish, so I uh...decided to investigate." He confessed, casting his gaze away. "I really wasn't trying to trespass with hostility on my mind..."
