August 3rd 1941, during the Finnish attacking phase of the Continuation War. Private Vilho Rättö using a captured 45-mm anti-tank gun, with a fellow infantry officer, against Soviet counter attack. Before abandoning the guns, enemy had taken away the optical sights. Aiming through the empty barrel, Rättö managed to destroy four enemy tanks, himself being slightly wounded in the leg.
This action made Rättö the fourth Knight of the Mannerheim Cross, and the first Private to be awarded the high decoration.
