It's a mashine, so it's hard to tell if it's good or evil.
Basically its job is to guard a girl and make sure that she doesn't leave the tower she's locked in.
Why the wings are torn is never exactly explained, but when that thing is after someone it hits everything in its path all willynilly, so I guess that's why.
