Rahne Sinclair was born in Kinross, Scotland—child of a priest and a prostitute and unwanted by both. When her mother died in child birth, she became a ward of the church and was raised by the man who happened to be her father (Reverend Craig). Being a fundamentalist, he was particularly cruel and mean-spirited when he drank and was abusive toward his daughter. When puberty kicked in, her mutant power of lycanthropy emerged. This troubled the Reverend, who thought it meant she was possessed by the devil and tried to kill her. She was rescued by Moira MacTaggert, who took her in as her own and eventually put her in Xavier’s school to learn about her mutant powers. Taking on the codename WOLFSBANE, she joined The New Mutants and eventually became an X-Man.
