Morticia A. Addams is the matriarch of “The Addams Family” created by cartoonist Charles Addams for The New Yorker magazine in the 1930s and based on his first wife Barbara. She is married to Gomez and is the mother of Wednesday and Pugsley. Morticia is a witch, a slim woman who dresses in a very form-fitting full-length black dress with a fringe of thick octopus-like cloth “tentacles” at the lower hem. Morticia is musical and can be found strumming a Japanese shamisen often. Morticia is taken aback when one of her clan doesn’t uphold the traditional Addams way and does something “pleasant.”
