Description
The first female superhero created by a woman (Tarpe Mills) is Marla Drake, a wealthy socialite who discovered another woman was wearing the same outfit as her to a party, decided to wear an African panther skin that her Uncle had willed to her. Her friend, Albino Jo, advised against it as it was ceremonial and meant only for a witch doctor. On the way to the party, she gets caught up in and helps the recapturing of an escaped murderer and the press named her the “Black Fury”—which she corrected as “Miss Fury”! And she went on to a life as a costumed crime fighter.
