I own two of these myself, one custom-painted silver. Of course, this TMP phaser (the WOK one has a few mods to it. DST produced both versions, with the TMP one as an exclusive) is nothing compared to the Diamond Select version, but it's very durable and I really appreciate the belt clip, because I can just hook it to my Monster Maroon's belt and leave it there.
Apparently, Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise (or some other role play source) lists this as an Atalskes Phaser IV, with the detachable front part (the Phaser 1 from the DST version) being the Atalskes Phaser III. And weirdest of all, the emitter actually has 4 barrels within the housing (the DST version has 4 little lights to show this), so the phaser actually produces four smaller beams that come together to form the final blast. And with the Enterprise-C crew using this, it seems this model's been in Starfleet issue from 2271 to the 2340s at least! ^_^;

Yes, I've also seen that data in a technical guide, but I would have to look around to check on my source. Nevertheless, everything you have said is accurate in as far as "acceptable canon" is concerned. We can see the four emitters when its used in WoK, predominately in the scene where Kirk uses it to kill an ell.
I actually obtained the basic model with the clip when it first came out, moved house, lost it, found it of all places ... buried in my back yard (a family member had played "spaceman" with it and decided to hide it!) wherein it was recovered and cleaned up. Not in the best of shape for that reason, however, I think its more or less intact. I also have the WoK era uniform to go with it, Engineering colors, 25 year service pins, Lt. Cmdr.

I'm sorry your family member wound up hiding it! Did they do that on purpose to get on your nerves or did they just play with it and forget they hid it? It's too bad your poor Phaser is no longer in the best shape, but it still works, doesn't it? How are the lights and the two sounds?
Since we last posted on this page, I've been through Otakon 2011, Anime Weekend Atlanta 2011, Ichiban 'Con 2012 and Kira Kira 'Con 2012 and one of my trusty Playmates Atalskes P-IV's has slogged with me the whole way through all of these 'cos. It's the custom-painted silver one. This toy is somewhat damaged; its "Stun" setting no longer works (I wound up just using it like an "off" switch), but the "Disruption" setting works fine.
My other Playmates Atalskes P-IV, which functioned perfectly and was identical to the one you photographed, sadly got lost at Otakon 2012. I didn't go to the rave Saturday night and wound up spending quite some time helping a young Hetalia Axis Powers cosplayer find her wallet, as she'd lost it and was understandably in quite a panic. Unfortunately, while she found her wallet, I lost my gun in the process.
Luckily, I did get the DST/AA TWOK version at Anime Weekend Atlanta 2012 in September, but the Playmates was a classic and it was also a prop I'd bought with my own money just like all the others, so I felt terrible about losing it. So far, I tend to treat my DST/AA as a "Hero" Phaser because of its ability to split in two and its much more extensive lighting and sound effects, while the Playmates one I have remaining is treated like a "Stunt" Phaser because it's simple, ridiculously sturdy (4 'cons worth of abuse and it's still kicking) and it's got a convenient belt clip.
I hope it isn't too weird to start thinking of your Phaser as a trusty "buddy" or "sidekick" after it's slugged through a 'con or two at your side. Good work on getting a TWOK uniform, too, and in non-white/command division colors, too. Not many people produce costumes in that color unless you ask them to; was yours custom-made?

Yes, it still works and it was a small child who was playing with it and subsequently buried it. It is quite the antique now. I did have at one time an original SPACE1999 laser gun (with four colored plastic panels representing the laser emitters) and even a classic metal Buck Rogers ray gun (which I sold at auction ten years ago for more than eight hundred pounds). The items I wish I had never parted with (I needed the money) were my collection of equipment/toys which included TNG Tricorder, Bajorian Tricorder, Klingon rifle and a few other items. And yes my costume was custom made ... sadly, I've put on so much weight that it is impossible to get into it now. I have the curse of Scotty (and a 54'' waistline) och.
