Description Birthday fanarts sure are a great opportunity to take some time and draw your faves
It was nice trying this kind of composition~
You can probably tell but I'm not the best when it comes to writing a relevant description anymore ahhaHA

Look at that flow, that gesture. Dang that's a nice composition. And that colour harmony. (And that intense look in his eyes.)
This looks like promotional art for some amazing game or something. The background, the pose, the colour harmony, the cloth, the hair, those hands. Just. Amazing.
The golden borders on the cloth go so well with the red, and the cogs in the background with those patterns in them and those soft squares just...
And those little details like that tiny golden chain under the robe, the robe seams, that slight ruffle which is the same colour as the gloves and trousers.

And that texture everywhere making it feel sorta soft in a way. Though I think perhaps the background being slightly smoother (less intense texture) or vice versa with the character having a less intense texture, might also have looked really nice.
In any case...   You make really amazing pieces really rapidly. (Far quicker than me at least. )

Uwaa, I'm really glad you think so! ^.^)
It took literally all day to find an interesting composition.. This was the 5th attempt ahaha
The game he's from may not be that epic in terms of gameplay xD The songs he participates in though are really inspiring!~
Working on a big canvas definitely helped with all those small details!

100% agreeing on this, the character and background had two different textures at first (with the one on the background being less intense), I changed its opacity last minute as I was afraid it won't appear on a brighter display my laptop has a brightness and contrast issue I can't seem to solve orz
It's a mistake from my part but at least I know what to do next time ^^'

I find thumbnailing helps a lot with quickly going through composition ideas.
It makes the process a lot faster and I use it for most of my bigger drawing ideas. I could link you a video explaining it on Discord?

Well you made him look really damn cool. Sometimes the feelings songs and other such things give can give that same strong feeling of something being epic, even if the gameplay isn't.
It depends on the kind of game, some games excel in their story to make an amazing experience.

I still think it looks interesting, it's something that might work really well with a different kind of composition.
In any case I can fully relate to those last minute changes because you're not sure if it will display well on different devices.
Sometimes I forget for example f.lux is active changing my colours, and I always have to check carefully if it's partly active already otherwise the drawing will turn out looking quite different.

Absolutely!
I did use thumbnails for this (then took the interesting compositions and did a first sketch to see how it would look) but I guess I wasn't sure what I wanted to go for, and that's why I spent more time than expected choosing one composition to go with ^^'
I'd like to get more references about the topic though, if you have a few videos you think are worth watching then please feel free to send them!

Aaa, thank you again!
True! That's why I like to look at fanarts too, fanartists can portray a lot of things inspired from those interesting parts of a game and the end result is sooo nice~

I ended up editing the file on my computer, but left this one as it is xD
Yes, a monitor could definitely be a great help with that, but then again there's a few other points to take into consideration before investing ahaha

Yea. Sometimes even if you've done thumbnailing the sketching process can still take a bit longer than expected.
It happens.
But I'll surely send you the videos I have in my tutorial documents to you through Discord. ^^

You're welcome. ^^
And yea, I should probably look at a wider range of other artists and study what they do more.
I think I could learn a lot from that. But I seem to have so many things I should spend time on.. ^^:

Ahh yea, that works.
And... yea.. computer equipment is expensive. Then again once you've put in the money it is relatively easy upkeep.
Unlike with traditional where you'll need to keep buying resources if you want to paint for example.
