Again, sorry about scan quality and image hugeness.This is my hybrid for the SPLICE contest (although I don't plan on winning anything, it was fun to draw.
)This fellow is part human, viperfish, anglerfish, maybe a little tiny bit of barreleye and light inspiration from the tripod fish.
Materials used were cheap paper and three 0.3 micron pens, since deceased.
Anyway, my idea for this lovely little man was that he creeps around on the ocean floor. I've since realized that the design would need to be altered for that. But hey, he looks cool.

Same username (fly0away0) I didn't comment, I just read the post quickly. The website sent me a birthday wish and it made me sad for a second because my Beta for which I signed up for the site died two years ago. (I got him for my birthday and I think the couple who gave him to me got him from walmart.) He seemed healthier in my care for about two months out of the walmart atmosphere, but there was a red inflamation at his gills that I couldn't do anything about. I took him to a decent pet store to ask what I could do and they gave some medicine stuff to put in the water and he was fine for a week but one day I got home from school and he no longer wiggled his fins. So I took him outside because I think fish deserve a more decent funeral than the toilet bowl and an owl picked him up instead. Alas, he went back into the natural cycle from which he came.
But ya, I dont go on that site any more and I tried to delete my account but couldn't figure out how to. I've given up on fish keeping. (I had some other nonbeta fish in the same tank a few years before that. The petstore guy said they're compatable but one of them killed the other two and then killed itself by not eatting?)

Poor fish. Both of those things sound like they're not your fault, though, if it makes you feel any better. Pet store people give bad advice! I learned it the hard way when they sold me a coldwater species and tropical species and told me they'd do fine in the same tank. 9_9

I do online research. As long as you're careful and look at multiple sources, you can find all the info you need. Forums are really useful, too, that way you can talk to people who have more experience.

yes, the only problem is, sometimes you need someone who knows to look at the pet. I tried posting a picture of the gill-swealing but its kinda hard to look at with my camera and you cant tell from the picture that its swollen - it just looked like normal coloration.

Well, that's one of the problems with owning small fish, or really fish of any kind. Not too many vets around that you can take your fish in to be looked at.

Quite a creative hybrid, I think. I'm sure most people are gonna make really cliched hybrids like something plus tiger/wolf/fox..., but I never thought I'd see fish!
The design looks quite good to me, I love thin limbs and webbed hands. The face looks quite creepy, good, good. The only critique I can really give is that, personally, I'd have increased the contrast to make it stand out a bit more.

I agree about the contrast, I'll see if I can fix that when I borrow my friend's software. Did you notice anything about the composition? Something's been bothering me about it and I can't figure out what's wrong. It seems uneven.

I'm finally on break, so I'm hoping I'll be able to relax a little, although I'm pretty sure I'll hurl myself into a wall when grades come out. Last week my blood pressure rose so quickly that I got a nosebleed. |D BUT IT'S BREAK NOW so I'll be drawing and sleeping. And buying unnecessary things for my pets.

Yeah. I'm spending the second half of my senior year in France, and now have to do everything a year before everyone else. oTL
Plus I just got a job to help pay for the costs, and it's taking up the extra time I need to finish everything. I'm kinda starting to regret it. oTL

My winter break starts on the 17th, and I think my teachers are finally done vomiting extra projects so I'll have some spare time.

What part of France? How exciting! It'll be worth it, France is great. Sometimes smelly, and they don't really like Americans (can't remember if you're from the US or not, if not, just ignore that last), but if you can look past that it's really beautiful.
Don't worry, I haven't managed to effectively injure myself yet, so I think we're safe. :/
