The blizzard had come roaring across the grey skies, and surely would have overwhelmed a green rider and mount. But Bea and Una had weathered many a worse storm, and knowing warm lodging was not far away, it was not too hard to press onward. With her handler's waning eyesight, the great dire had been doing most of the work locating the various waypoints as they progressed, her silver eyes catching the odd neon flags that marked the mountain path. The dire female's lumbering frame and thick coat made quick work, as they progressed along the path, twin tendrils of her breath through her broad nose, as she picked up her pace, sensing Una's joints might be starting to get sore. It had been a while since the two had done a jaunt at this sustained speed, but in spite of the storm, the dire could sense the well-worn path well enough beneath the snow. Her paws displaced snow with each step she took, and her nose led them around the bend, as she kept her head low and out of the wind. Sun would set in a few hours, and Una expected they'd be back before dinner... so long as they kept up their pace.
