Wow. That is good work on the shellder. Mollusks may seem a bit weird and unappealing. However I still like them a lot. Cephlapods (octopus, squid, etc.) tend to have very big and round eyes. When I draw stylized mollusks with eyes like that, they become so cute and adorable. I have gotten a ton of inspiration form insects. Part of that is to have large oval eyes. With mollusks, there are large circular eyes. The look is a bit different, but it is still appealing. It helps make mollusks unique. I like to put the large circular eyes on all kinds of mollusk creatures, not just the cephlapods. With the right stylization, any mollusk can look really adorable. Even the kraken can be cute. You did a good job making this shellder lok cute. It has the big circular eyes. It also really helps that the pupils are very large and shiny. Drawing pupils like that is second nature to me.
I was having some fun trying to overanalyze shelder. I wondered where it is a mollusk or a brachiopod. THe shell is shaped like a molluck, but positioned like a brachiopod. I checked Bulbapedia, and it said Shelder is a clam. Clams are molluscs. It makes a lot more sense. Mollusks are a lot more famous, and they are a lot more common in modern day. Brachiopods were big in prehistoric times, but now there are hardly any left. I still think they are cool though. It would be awesome if there was a brachipod Pokemon. It would likely be a rock/water type. Shellder has a big toungue sticking out. Yet it kind of looks like foot. It is an appendage that mollusks use to move. Some mollusk groups are named based on the appearence of the food. Cephlapod means "head foot". They look like big heads with tentacles attached. Gastropod (snails and slugs) means "stomach foot". They crawl on a foot, which looks like their belly or underside. Maybe Shelder can be called a linguapod, which means tongue foot. I just came up with the name. Lingua can refer to literal tongue or they could refer to language. People use their tongues for speaking. So the variations of speech can be like a variation of tongue movements or something. Bivalves are mollusks like Shelder. Their name means "two shells", and it oddly doesn't involve a foot. These mollusks do have two shells hinged together. They still have a foot inside. I guess the two shells can resemble jaws and the foot can resemble a tongue. That is probably what Shellder's design is going off of. Cockles can use their foot to make along the sea floor. In a way, they could look like they're licking the ground. That would be funny.
