I have no idea what it is and I love it xD
Personally I think the best thing here are colours - great ammount of them give curious warm contrast, especially around creatures head. Yoou make a good use of green, because it is standing out from the crowd of other colours and makes you focuss on the main hero of the picture immediately.
Also the background is very interesting and that lose of colour. It makes it more mystical.

The mushroom looks really cool! The murky-like art style and the infestation of mushrooms, as long as with the marking on his mouth makes the picture. It would be even cooler if it didn't have any eyes. Would make a creepy factor if you were going for that.
