Description My take on the robot from Fritz Lang's METROPOLIS (1927). The greatest Sci-fi movie until 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The robot in Metropolis has a name, Futura, which is also the name of one of my favorite fonts (designed in 1928 by Paul Renner). Some people mistakenly call this robot "Maria" because it is used to mimic the character of Maria in Metropolis. George Lucas cites Lang's robot as the inspiration for C-3PO.

This started as a pencil drawing based on several different source images, both photos and famous artistic interpretations, which is why it should look both familiar and different from the original. I intend to expand the drawing into a full poster one day. The drawing was scanned and manipulated in Photoshop.

Oh, and how could I forget the Lincoln Futura concept car from 1955?! The one that became the Batmobile for the 1960s TV series! ^o^

TY! ^_^ Yup I drew it in pencil and filtered it a bit with PS. The big glow thing is all PS.

The original drawing actually looks better, I think, and has more detail because it's about twice as big. But I think I'll redo it because it's kinda asymmetrical and rough in places.
