Hey it's the 'heretic pharaoh' Achenaten/Amenhotep IV was always one of my favorite pharaohs as a child... I used to draw the sun disk of the Aten on all my books in school (:

He was an interesting pharaoh, at the very least!

Yes he was! The exhibit had him posed perfectly! There was a lot of item in the room with him (there were 10 rooms in the exhibit). But that statue and that look most certainly dominated the room. He was one of my favorites too. There is now current speculation that he was actually the father of King Tut.

I've never seen a statue of Akhenaten yet, but I saw a lot of the so-called Amarna art, which shows him paying tribute to the Aten a lot, and I saw the famous bust of Nefertiti, all in Berlin , that was very epic!

How did you get this...
no flashback...no glass spectrum?

This guy was not behind glass. The pedestal is about 6 feet tall and what is left of him is another 6 feet. I think the idea is to give a sense of how tall the statue originally was. This shot was taken from about 15-20 feet away across the room. The lighting in the entire exhibit was literally amazing! He almost looks like he is facing the rising sun.

Thanks...It was awesome.

I think now it would be really difficult to prevent photos. They would have to collect cell phones as well as cameras. That would be a big security, liability and logistic issue.
