thanks! A couple of kinds of pencils. Kooh i nor woodless. (I love them, sooo soft, but limited pallette,) and Farber Castell.

oohhhh okay. I use Faber Castells but sometimes the pigment just doesn't wanna come out. I'm thinking of getting Prismacolors when my current arsenal of pencils have reached their last few inches.

Try the Koh i noor woodless. Again, there are only 24 colours to choose from, but they are soft as butter!
I've heard that the prismacolours break very easily.

yeah, it's because they're more pigment than they are wax, but they produce hella rich colours

I've never tried drawing on anything other than white paper. But this is really inspiring. So thanks for posting!

NO prob! Something I've had TONS of luck with is brown craft paper. (the kind you buy to wrap packages with.)
I have never been happier with a medium in my life.

It really is! I am just now learning the joys of coloured paper. I really like drawing 'humans' on brown, so I think I'd like to try drawing megamind on blue, or purple.

Thanks! It was so easy! Building up the colour like that is almost like sculpting. Normally I work pretty hard to get a good line drawing before I colour, but with this, I just did a faint sketch and then adjusted it as I went.

How long do you need for thouse scetches?

tripperfunster In reply to Catskind [2011-02-03 14:46:20 +0000 UTC]
This one was really quick. Probably less than an hour. And it's not small, the paper is 9x12 inches, and the head is probably 8x9 ish? If you look closely at the lines, it's really quite scribbly.

Thanks! Yeah, I like the scribbles. Sort of why I left out the top part of his head. I like it when you can see that something is drawn.
