chimera: Mr. Grey

willow, flax-yarn inclusion sheets, seed beads, copper wire, anodized aluminum wire, thread, polyurethane

1’x1’x1’

For Sale

chimera: Mr. Grey with its skin-like flax paper, willow reed structure, and yarn inclusions is reminiscent of a dreamcatcher, twisted and perverted and now nightmarish. The imbalanced-balanced makes it a piece that begs to be picked up and moved and rotated to find the angle that is most comfortable to the viewer. It makes reference to the Stephen King novel Dreamcatcher and the alien/monster—the interiorized Other—Mr. Grey. This piece, for me, is about infestation and contagion and the pollution that one accumulates throughout their lives.
