Description Edit] Changed the lineart colour slightly, it was sticking out too much before.

My first challange for

"1. Ahh, the forests of Twistoult are so relaxing! So relaxing that you seem to have wandered off the path. What do you find? "

Silly TLDR story below. I might re-write it later. apologies if it's terrible, 4AM not sure how well I'm writing lol.

There finally came the moment, greatfully no one around to witness it, where Pasquale sat down and admitted he was lost. The Canopy above, once back-lit by the blazing afternoon sun was now darkening; casting the forest floor in deepening green.

Leaning back heavily on his haunches, rising steadily onto his hind legs, he made a visual sweep of his surroundings confirming what he had guessed during his sojourn; the intertwined foliage of the trees high above would not permit him to fly out at this spot. The clouded gryphon set his talons back to earth and started towards what looked like a place where the underbrush thinned.

It was night proper when he arrived at what was most definately a clearing. Large mossy rocks jutted from the earth here, keeping the choking plant life from thriving. His stomache cramped suddenly, reminding him that he had not eaten since that morning. Greatful to see the sky over him once more, he opened his wings making ready to be on his way. Before he could do anything more a flash of light appeared, turning he saw a streak across the sky and felt the rumble as it came to earth.

He stood startled and dazed for a moment, black spots swimming across his vision. What could that have been? In all his years he had never witnessed anything like it. Ignoring his stomach, his flight home forgotten, he plunged again into the deep woods in the direction he was sure it had gone.

~ ~ ~

Surprisingly the thing was not difficult to find. Smoldering leaves and broken branches marked where it had fallen. There, at the bottom of a ravine, in a deeply carved trench it sat. Pasquale picked his way down the slope, fluttering the last quarter or so, landing soundlessly. He approached the object cautiously. It was hot,too hot to touch; strange smelling steam rising from it. It appeared to be a peice of earth, black all over, but shining brilliant violet and blue like oil on a feather. Tapping it carefully with one claw revealed a metallic clang. How odd. He resolved to wait for this strange stone to cool enough to carry in his beak. Perhaps someone in Grandesque would know what it was and where it had come from.

For the time being, the forest was cooling. He ruffled his feathers, the heat from the stone hypnotic. His last view was of stars, the sound of water closeby and the smell of strangeness beside him.

Forge it into a paper-weight!

I had intended to do something with it at some point when I fully understand the bounds of the world
