Alt art of one of my favorite TV shows of all time: Mystery Science Theater 3000. This was a lot of fun to do, especially redesigning the bots.This is also another case of me returning to an idea I had about a year ago. This time, I actually got a fair bit along on the original before dropping it. It was drawn, scanned in, and had at least partial flats done. I might have to post the original some time and compare the two versions to see how far I've come in the past year.

I can totally picture Mike being gagged and bound like in a Clockwork Orange forced to watch all those bad movies. Although I'm sure his mouth would be forcibly shut so he couldn't tell jokes to keep himself sane.

For some reason, I see this, and my mind plays back the alternate ending to Army of Darkness where everything's destroyed and he yells "Oh God! No! No! I slept too long!!!!"

Those are especially specially sinister reworks of the bot designs.Β Gypsy reminds me of Glados, and Crow should be voiced by Ben Cumberbatch!

Good call on the bots. Gladdos really is kind of a "dark Gypsy" when you really thing about it. I never thought of Cumberbatch as Crow, but now that you mention it, I really, really like the idea!

Planetary made Monster Island a sad reality. This kind of Pop Art isn't unwelcome, just tread carefully. MST3k was my generation's escapism at its finest. We were all up there with Joel (not so much with Mike).
Anyway, I do like this, you did well. It just sorta made me sad inside to see it this way.
