Description Cuélebre, or Culebre, is a giant winged serpent (a dragon) of the Asturian and Cantabrian mythology, which lives in caves and guards treasures while keeping xanas as prisoners. Although they are immortal, they grow old as the time goes by and their scales become thick and impenetrable, and flag wings grow in their bodies. They don't usually move, and when they do it, it is in order to eat cattle and people. One can kill the cuélebre giving him as meal a red-hot stone or a bread full of pins. Its spit it is said to turn into a magic stone which heals many diseases.

In Midsummer, which is a magical night in Asturian and Cantabrian folklore, it is possible for brave men to defeat the cuélebre, whose spells don't take effect that night, and marry the xana and get the treasure. However in Cantabrian areas it's said the night of Saint Bartholomew the creature increases his power and unleashes all his fury against people in revenge.

When the cuélebre grows older its scale become thicker and thicker, and he must flee Asturias and fly to the Mar Cuajada, a paradise located beyond the sea.

Not common to see our most famous myth (along with the xanas, trasgus and nuberus) around here. The foresty look is very well done, but so many fog makes it look way more Brittish instead of Asturian (*not Cantabrian!!*)

The only complain is that the cuélebre seems quite difused and that makes it lose protagonism in a way. Also, altough I like it more this way, they're mainly represented as a more slender and nimble snake like creatures, not so bulky.

Yours look much more like a Wyvern...

But anyway, for a 3d piece, it's very soft and nicely done. And very rare to see a foreigner making a tribute related to our culture

Thank you very much for this in depth critique I will do much more research into an area (fog) and I agree the I did down size the resoulution. In the original the cuélebre is much more detailed. I wanted to create a distant image, and lost detail I do admire the rich cultures of other nations, Here in the US we have urban legends which have become very boring. Once again thnak you very much I'm truley honored

has many lovely pictures. I've been afraid to touch them because I fear I can't do them justice. You did a great job though. I love the dark feel and the fog.

you're welcome and thanks for the encouragement. I might work up the courage one day. A friend of mine did a painting based on one of her works, which I thought was very pretty. She took it down so I'll have to talk her into putting it back on her gallery.
