I have been wanting to get a copy of Usausa for awhile now, but somehow never got around to it until this weekend. Oh she is so nice ... so nice that I thought it might be nice to make a stage specially for her (as well as the other smaller sized Vocaloids in my collection).

The interaction between the audience and the Vocaloid(s) is at the very least partially influenced by the environment that the Vocaloid is set in. This being the case, it makes sense to build the smaller Vocaloids a smaller, more intimate stage to really help them shine.

Anyway, the music box is the theme for this set precisely because music boxes by nature are intimate. There are literally thousands of designs for these types of boxes (and the Japanese and Chinese makes some of the nicest ones); that said, the European ones, often with a sprung wound music player, are almost a standard for the type. This stage is loosely based on one of these - it alludes to a traditional Victorian box but with some design elements that definitely ties it in with the futuristic Vocaloids.

Put a chibi on one of my other stages and well, she tends to get lost in the big space, however, this stage is made to be just her size. Miku Hatsune may have trouble finding leg room on this music box stage, but it's just the right size for her chibi versions; and of course the smaller girls such as Rin Kagamine and Usausa.
