Pearl went through a bit of a phase after Rose left.
For those who want a bit of emotion to it, she snapped out of it after she almost got Steven injured and scarred him to the point of crying, which is part of the reason she is so overly protective.

I'm pretty sure this design actually originated by Rebecca Sugar in a sketch she did.

I've seen a similar design for Pearl before done by another artist, and I really love how it looks. I think Pearl looks badass with the leather jacket and jeans.
