Thank you! Nice to hear that since this is actually only the second proper finished centaur picture I've ever done.

And drawing male characters is somewhat my speciality. Been doing that for the past few years now.

I'm the same with female characters. I've attempted males but I just can't seem to get their anatomy down pat. But females...? I'm awesome. *headdesk* Totally jealous of your centaur @.@

I suppose males can be difficult to draw because they lack defining shapes the females have. But it really helps when you learn how the muscles are set in the body and use them as guidelines for proportions.
posemaniacs.com is a good website for references and my personal hint is to use bodybuilder pics are references. They may be icky and whatnot being all oiled up but that brings the muscles out more and helps figuring out how they are.
And of course... Practice, practice, practice.

I know people talk about practice way too much but in the end it really helps. I've been drawing almost ten years more or less actively and 3-4 years ago I started to concentrate on more muscular male characters, for reasons unknown. But I've always drawn male characters so it pays off.

I actually don't know, I usually just get an idea for a character and then draw it. And I didn't have a centaur character so I had to correct that lack. x)
And also ~althea9 has some very nice centaur art so that was also inspiring me.

Well, I noticed you had a bull-taur... Or is that a human minotaur? @.@

I've been drawing seriously for about... *counts fingers* 15 years? Give or take. But I suppose it helps art look better when you have the programs and stuff to make it look digital and more professional.

I love your style though. Tasty men all over the place

But you should definitely come up with story or a plan for your centaur~ Cause centaurs are fun and awesome.

Yeah, I have two bulltaurs and a cervitaur, too. I did the bulltaurs because I had to come up with a logical way to... beef them up to that size (pun intended).
But for true centaurs, I have only this one.

I don't think it requires digital media for art to look professional. Take for example *Goldenwolf who does art for living and works solely on traditional media. It's pretty much about the artist's preferences.
I sometimes dabble with traditional media, I actually have a 72 pencil set of Derwent Studio pencils that are expensive as hell, but since I lack a proper surface to work on I've started to do more digital coloring. My sketches and linearts are done with pencil and pens, though.
And of course, digital media has the magnificent power of ctrl+z.

I actually have somewhat of a story around him, or at least background story. I'm just too lazy and partially too shy to write it online. Self-criticism ftw. |D

So she's the one behind all that~! I've always wondered...  I can't do Anthro either. My Anthro stuff looks like crap so I usually never bother to scan it up.

I used to have bags, on bags, of pencils, markers, pens, etc. But because of everything that's happened, I've lost almost all of them and don't have the money to get more.

You should tell me his story at least~ 'Cause now you've gotten me all curious <3

Anthro art is a completely different story... I used to do it a lot back in the day but then I started drawing humanoid characters. I think anime is to blame for that. :'D
But I'm kinda trying to get back to that, too. Not easy, I can tell you that. @_@

Well I used to have a drawing tablet but then cat happened and he chewed up the USB cord so bad it's completely useless now.
So I use a mouse with digital media. Takes hell of a lot time but the results aren't that bad.
Now I should buy new 0.05 pens because they're slowly dying on my hands but I can't seem to find them anywhere locally, argh.

Hehe, I usually write my characters' background in the comments so there might be more when I get to draw this guy again. ;D
I have another artwork waiting to be colored (and bunch of others waiting to be drawn) so it might take some time.
But I do have Skype and I tend to spill more facts than necessary about my characters there. |D

Good thing I'm logged into Skype pretty much all the time, counting out when I sleep and that's usually at the weirdest hours. And I have no life.
