Description Some more concept art for Project Cutlass!
Sheesh, most of the environments for this darn game will have probably been spawned of "I'm bored.. what to draw?" situations.
That's not to say I shouldn't have been doing homework at the time, but what's the fun in that?

Inaylan and Amythest overlooking Hero Canyon, a deep valley cut into stone, at the bottom of which rests a small lake which feeds into a river. Inaylan's got his tack on, and if ya look closely at the silhouette in the sky on the right, you can see a person on the dragon's back.
Yep, it's a dragon-riding game. I know that was just SOOOOOO hard to guess, right? It's mostly going to be centered on riding/caring for/fighting baddies with your dragon, catching new ones, finding treasure and building new weapons and armor for yourself and your steed. If all goes well, I mean.

I tried to put some uniqueness into the scenery, going past the usual bushes and trees. I'm thinking the white stuff on that tree might be a small flower or a cotton-like fluff, but I wasn't thinking too much about it, to be honest. XP

Inaylan's markings are just so much fun to deform.

That's probably a good sign, because I used the same shading and lineart techniques as in the CaronGeia comic. X3
Thanks Cat! <3

Haha, hopefully we can get a short demo out after we're all done with Project Rusty, which should be a couple of years. XD

Lol that's what it takes...a mentor of mine is an animator for the Gears of War series...it's not a piece of cake X3

How many people you have working on the projects? Just you and your brother?

Oooh, that sounds like fun though. =o

Just me and Cat. We thought about offering others positions, but a random stranger popped up on my page one day asking if he could do some architecture models for Project Rusty, which made me realize just how hard it would be to coordinate with people over the internet on that sort of thing. So we made it just us for the first few games.

Of course I'm doing about 85% the work so far, so I'm thinking the credits will consist of "Made, designed, programmed by Torrentpelt.. and Cathode helped a little." ;D

Inaylan!
Fffff he's so big compared to tiny little humans XD

I like the way you've colored the trees and such better than when you use photoshop brushes- it flows better with the rest of your style IMO.

Torrentpelt In reply to Ranohara [2010-09-02 12:33:33 +0000 UTC]

Ahaha, yes. XD I figured that dragons used for riding would have to be pretty big if they were going to be able to fly while supporting about 200 pounds of human/equipment.

B'aww, thank you Shiba! It's more time-consuming, but I think the end result looks a lot less cheap than when I used the brushes. XP
