Why stop at the power of the Sharingan when there are lots of others for Itachi to try out?
Here, Itachi took Misa's shinigami eyes.
Wonder how he'll abuse this power?
**EDIT -- I don't know Japanese, I just picked some random kanji and they happen to say 4, 8, 9. I didn't want to put a real year, so yeah, I made something up ^_^

True, but much of the Japanese language is borrowed from China. Kanji are Chinese or Chinese-derived characters. The ones you might be thinking of are kana, which are a pair of syllable alphabets used for grammatical endings, foreign words, & I think words that were developed after Japan loosened its close ties to China.
Those characters read the same numbers in Japanese as they do in Chinese, only 4 is pronounced "shi", 8 is "hachi", & 9 is "kyu".

So they are the same characters then? I know they borrow a lot but i thought they had different characters, I saw them before but forgot what they looked like.

Some of the more complex characters in Chinese were simplified when borrowed by the Japanese if used at all. Japan only borrowed a fraction of the characters & some do look quite different.
But the majority of Kanji looks very similar to the original Chinese characters (with maybe a few less lines) if not identical. The number characters I know for sure were left unchanged.
