Namorita + Carol Ferris/Star Sapphire

Namorita "Nita" Ferris is the CEO of Ferris Aircraft, a company owned by her cousin the Mariner. He had appointed Nita to run the company, where she met test pilot, Hal Rider (who would later become Green Nova). Hal fell in love with her, but Nita looked down on him, dismissing the human with a "I don't date employees" off handed comment. Meanwhile, trouble for Nita was brewing off the coast, deep in the Pacific.

The Zamurians, an off-shoot of homo-mermanus, lived in the Pacific Ocean (as opposed to the Atlanteans who lived in the Atlantic). Though separated by large land masses, the two peoples were great enemies. When Mariner, as Arthur McKenzie, began secretly forming a power base in the world of business, and set up Ferris Aircraft in Coast City, the Zamurians were concerned. Long ago, a crystal fell from the stars into the pacific ocean, and the Zamurians had studied it. The Queen of the Zamurians, Llyra, decided to use this crystal as a trap. Her mages corrupted the power source of the Violet corps, and managed to assure themselves that Nita would find it. When she touched the gem, her body transformed from the pink-skinned hybrid she was to a blue skinned Atlantean and a malevolent entity awakened by the Zamurian mages took over her mind.

Star Chimera, as she called herself, had a hatred for the Green Nova. The Violet Corps embodied the emotional end of the spectrum, Love, but the corruption by the Zamurians turned that Love into Hate or Jealousy (Star Chimera alternated between acting as if she hated Hal, or was so jealous of him that she hated anyone he even looked at). Hal had to defeat Star Chimera and revert her to her normal "Nita" Ferris form and mental state... but the star sapphire crystal would exert its power again and again.

Eventually, Nita was cured of the evil presence of the warped star crystal and was offered a violet power ring.

Meta backstory
So, Nita got a reference in my Hal Rider/Green Nova drawing, and I found that I was really interested in drawing her. I had originally called her Blue Sapphire, as Sapphires are blue, not pink, or purple, or pink. And with Namorita having the stage in New Warriors where she turned blue, I thought that would be clever. But then, I really started to explore the emotional spectrum rings and their amalgam with the Infinity Gems... and I realized I couldn't willy nilly change the color of the Star Sapphires, as there was indeed a Blue Lantern corps. So it was back to violet. And with her being violet, Blue Chimera, while being sort of accurate to her skin color, it would be confusing if I even was inspired enough to do a Blue Lantern Amalgam. So, then it was Star Chimera. Which actually sounds pretty cool.
