Do gecko's have nerves in the eyes? I wonder how they can stand licking their eyes.

It's their replacement for blinking; they have transparent scales on their eyes to protect their eyes, so their eyes get dirty, and they use their tongue to clean their eyes like windshield wipers
So, to answer your question, yes, they do, but they are covered by scales
