Hello
i started this month ago, when i watched LOST's final season.
I finally finshed it today and i want to show you.
Josh Holloway is a really pretty man (otherwise he wouldn't have been the davidoff model right?)
and i really loved his character Sawyer.
The angry look he always wore....i've tried to capture that.
It isn't my best drawing but i like it, because i got the hair right

This is inspiring. Big fan of lost. Sawyer was my favorite character.
What pencils and erasers do you use? What do you recommend to get a nice non scratchy soft blending and build up.

hmmm....honestly i just use the cheap stuff.
i started with art pencils and paper, but i think i couldn't handle it well, so now i just use cheap drawing Paper (plane, white and max. 190g/mΒ²) i use pencil eraser (bought it on ebay) and normal mechanical pencils they have different Sizes.
I usually use 0.5 H, HB, B and 0.7 and 1.0 B thats it.....nothing fancy really.
blending...i do with pads of cotton wool and Q-tips.

Thank you for the advice, I have started using q-tips which has helped immensely. And love the retractable eraser and eraser pencil I found. I now am also starting my sketches off with 2-H instead of HB which gives me much more room for building without erasing too early and have purchased some darker leads also. I am starting to get back into the swing of things. It had been years since I have attempted any kind of portrait sketching.
Would really appreciate your feedback on my Joshua Gomez and Pauley Perrette and Yvonne Strahovski Sketches. I am still reworking the Zachary Levi one.
What would you recommend for color pencils? I think I have derwent paint pencils somewhere in storage but may purchase some new ones rather than digging them out.

Glad i could help a little.
as for the feedback: they look pretty good, but like i've said
they need deeper/darker shading. and than it'll be easier to put
highlights on the face and eyes...which makes it always look more realistic...you know?
@recommend: hmmm i'm not using colored pencils.
only pastels (chalk/pencil). and mostly i'm using no-names.
But i can give you one tip:
I buy all my art-supplies on ebay....often it's 50% from the usual price.

okay! hmmm...the thing is i've never seen Josh in another role. So i go with Sawyer
Thats okay, he really was a bada** at the first season
but underneath you always could see there is more and he isn't as bad as his attitude
Oh well....you are right, but Damon is more the sexyboy than the badboy AND it was pretty clear, pretty early he isn't THAT bad
