Description I tried to post this about a week ago but didn't realize until now that it hadn't posted! ("Why am I getting no comments on my Hugo pic? Oh well, some things just seem to fall under the radar...") but Seriously. That movie was GORGEOUS. All shades of warm, buttery yellows and golds, contrasted with deep blues and purples...I've wanted to practice my digi painting after looking again at the lovely historical paintings by , but wanted to do something not Hetalia for once. Then I watched Hugo. I mean, I read Brian Selznick's not-easily-classifiable-but gorgeously illustrated book, and at first I was unhappy that the movie would be in color, but I LOVED it. And Little Asa Butterfield is so creepy but so adorable; if the Percy Jackson movie hadn't been so groan-worthy, I think he would make a mighty good Nico Di Angelo, no?

Aaaaand I still haven't watched it. XD I think I'll need some DVD copy at this point, gone from theaters.

I love it, I love it, I love the lighting and the shading as your usual awesome, and Hugo is just too cute, and his hands are cool and so are the gears and panels and all... did I mention the shadows?! *faint* <3333

Thank you! And definitely you should watch it if you can, it's well worth seeing, either in theatres or DVD. Such a good book and movie!

True! I thought the same. If they wanted to make a new Lord of the Rings they could cast Asa for the role

I love this movie SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much.

I knew nothing about the book past all my students were reading it and I went to watch it. But from what I heard, people that rented the movie were disappointed. I think they were expecting another hyperactive action packed comedy movie like 99% of children's movies nowadays. This one was such a nice change from what you usually see that...ah I cried, I admit, I cried so hard over this movie. It was so beautiful. I tell everyone to go watch it because it has such a great message.

Also, I like your art lmao.

Thank you! I loved it too, it was so very poignant and beautiful and exciting and just a tad bit creepy (my sister got really freaked out at the nightmare scenes). Not to mention that I just love the look of this time period. I haven't really cried over such a movie since UP, but I was pretty close to. Putting in the actual movie sequences from that time was such a good idea...I hope it gets even more people interested in it.

I'm glad you like it! And heh, that's really flattering. Have yet to do a proper picture of him, but otherwise I have mostly everyone else hanging about in different kitchens

Don't know if you are looking for crit but:
Excellent work on the jacket. It looks like you used a harder brush there, and it worked well. You should try using a harder brush for the rest of the piece.

Thanks, and no problem, Crits are very welcome! Hmm, I see what you mean...I did use the hard brush although I lowered the flow a lot, I think that's what made the rest a bit blurry
