Description Sketched at Starbucks yesterday, watercolored later. All the people in the pic were people who actually were there...I got the idea of leaving the heads blank and white when I started to do the faces, but then thought that it would be more interesting if they were vague and cloudy (Not that I CAN'T draw faces!) Plus I'd been thinking about the art of Zach Johnsen, who did such pictures like this [link] in which there would be really detailed drawings of mundane people with colorful explosions in place of their heads. Well, I decided not to do the colorful explosion part, but it did seem like everyone was on their phone or something while waiting for their coffee, not really paying attention to anyone else, so it was as if everyone's faces were a complete blank to them.

This has me thinking a lot about some of my digital art. Thank you!! Thank you for this, and for posting about Zach Johnson, and inspiring me to think about new things!!

You're welcome! I'm glad that I was able to generate some ideas, even if inadvertently! And yeah, Zach Johnsen's work is very interesting

I really love his work. And this piece was great, love the coffee tones! I just realized that the one phone, on the left, it looks a bit like less of a phone, but more of a gun, which is a great thing; in my recent experience, that really resonates with me.

REally,? I didn't realize that *looks it over* Well, I'm glad that it was able to "resonate;" that's the good thing about art, that some people see things in it that even the creators didn't notice

I think it represents what it is in real life: you know the place is crowded, but you pay no attention and later on you don't remember even a single face.

Yeah, I'm sure that no one remembers the faces that well...especially if one is on their electronic devices all the time.

Rather horrid - I mean when you take it seriously, it's just terrible, what social networking has done to people's identities.

As a social commentary it's interestingly horrid. I LOVE the idea of putting Facebook boxes where people's heads are, and maybe their faces where the phones are. Social networking isn't so very social.

It's unhuman. I'd gladly make some people go take a walk down the street, screaming out loud: "I just took a shower!"
Gee, it would be one chilling happening.

Some people will ALWAYS overshare.
