Yikes expensive software. Β I would like to see the same concept tried in Blender - Luxrender - GIMP. Β Just to see if such expensive software is necessary.

Unfortunately, I'm not as skilled with Blender & Gimp as I am with more expensive solutions.
But I'm pretty sure someone skilled enough with these softwares would be totally able to get the same result.
Some renders made with blender are just mindblowing.

They have easily reached parity, but 3DS takes an unwarranted monopoly on market share at this time, but thats capitalism, only problem is poor people who are not professionals then can't afford to use it.
I will stick with Blender for my unprofessional hobby, i just like playing around with it. Also luxrender.

Nice and Moody! The intense light pouring in looks like Summer in Philip Marlowe's Office...Β

Nice work. The room has a real "lived in" look to it. I can just picture some hard working detective at their desk. Great atmosphere.

room air is clean in contrast to dust window (as dust particle reflect refract to make beam appear)

Amazing work. Brilliant lighting and attention to the little details. I love the textures, it really feels like an actual room that people lived and worked in.
The fan kinda scares me a little because I think it'd get close to the guy's head when he stands up, but that's a really minor complaint.
Keep it up! I love it!

I'm sorry! But I couldn't do any better, so I can't really say anything.
It's a great piece. Keep up the good work!

Very nice atmosphere and believable rendering. The chairs seem a little out of place for a detective scene, but that is a minor critique. The models, texturing, and lighting are all quite nice. How did you do the smoke? Is it post-render? Or did you texture the light?

Thanks a lot!
The smole is a mix between post render and volumetric light.

Very nice work. Terrific atmospherics (i.e. the rays of light through the dust) and atmosphere (i.e. the melancholy feel).

Great looking materials - and the volumetric lighting really is the cherry on top!

I really like this one, but the picture of the newer car on the wall robs the vintage feel of it.

Would fit exellent as a background in some detective-themed adventure game. I like the most the fact that the image don't look OVERLY realistic. It has style: not your average million-and-one VRAY render.
