Judging from the 'Browse more from this artist tab', this is probably a pokemon I'm not familiar with.
With that aside, onto the critique!
The character is adequately proportioned, so that the colors of the background doesn't clash against the character (even if blue doesn't really ever clash with green or white 
The blush, and the eye are most detailed (in popular anime style) and I'm okay with that. The shading/highlighting is realistic (It works for the character!) and the colors really work with the character.
I dunno why you think you've done poorly with the background, either. It's great!
