After a few writing sessions, I’m’ discovering this whole story is a lot bigger than I ever thought it was. What started years ago (2016ish?) as an excuse to make sure I had something to draw and a means to practice sequential art and storytelling, something that was always stream-of-consciousness and random, is now taking on some deeper meaning. To me, anyway. I’ve taken a bunch of notes of overarching themes that have come up that I want to be sure to explore and plant the seeds for throughout the story. It’s a neat process, but it’s time consuming. I think I’m going to need to pick some drawing related projects to go along with the writing so I don’t wind up spending months only doing the latter and not honing my skills and feeding the art compulsion (outside of the weekly Inktober prompts). I already have a host of characters, environments, and structures and such that I need to do some studies of, so I’ll probably work on that. The writing is coming fairly easily once I’m in the zone, almost like it’s already there just waiting for me to record it. But I do find it more taxing than drawing at the moment, mostly because I’m “out of shape” for it.
