The Thalassadromeus holotype is in the collections of the Museu de Ciências da Terra not the Museu Nacional, so it wasn't lost.

Turns out it was actually at the national museum in brazil, for a study

I've heard this claim repeated so many times now yet no one has been able to provide a source. There was a cast of the Thalassodromeus holotype in the Museu Nacional (MN 6678-V), but no record of the actual holotype being moved from the MCT.
