Wei Chen Sun is a character from the graphic novel American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang. It's a good book, I recommend it.
He's a Taiwanese immigrant and the best friend of the main character Jin Wang, a Chinese-American boy. He's my favorite character because he's a geek.

The term 'Chinese' usually refers to the people belonging to the ethnic in general... those who trace their forefathers in China in general... To make a distinction, some people to call those from mainland China 'Mainland Chinese'.
Taiwanese... They usually use this term to indicate they are from Taiwan, or at least their family is from there following settlement. Most can trace their families to those who fled from the mainland in 1949, or to those who settled there after leaving the mainland over the centuries.. Of course there are indigenous populations in Taiwan...
